Yes I am a Mom and Yes I Game

Many years ago I was a little girl with a Nintendo. I'd fake being sick just to stay home to play Super Mario. Sleepovers at my best friend, Mandy's house would consist of us playing Mario World on SNES for hours and hours. I even have a Sega, and played a lot of Sonic. The older I got the more I played. In the early years of my marriage, we would play games on the PS2. However, my game play died down a lot after having the girls. I'd get a game here or there but nothing that I would stick to. I got upset when my husband got rid of the PS2 for an Xbox 360. I never realized that would jump start something great for me.

One year we got the Family an Xbox One for Christmas. My husband ended up getting Destiny. This man played so much of it, that the girls and I started to think that it was his XBox and not all of ours. It was all we ever seen on the TV screen. So one night he was at work, I had this great idea. I thought that if I started playing Destiny that he would lose interest in it and life would be back to normal. I loaded the game up, made my character, and started the story missions. I was still playing when he got home from work and he sat there explaining how to beat the part that I was on.  This went on for 1 week. That weekend I was at Gamestop buying my own Xbox One. My plan failed horribly. So horrible that my older two have their own Xbox Ones and Destiny 1&2.

Gaming has always been a part of me. I'm thankful my husband found a game that he loved that I would eventually love too. I'm now an Admin of our Destiny 2 group that we are a part of. I love to help everyone in our group get task done and I love our wine Fridays. I stream my game play for friends and even my girls.

I have met some of my best friends through gaming. My family has went on vacation to Tennessee with a couple we had met through gaming and their children. I've met 2 other people in person from my main group of people I play with. My main group of people I play with are like family. We talk regularly, we care about each other and check to make sure everyone is ok. We send Christmas cards and gifts, baby shower presents and gifts for kids. Gaming has put these great people in my family's life and I'm thankful for that.

So...Yes I am a Mom and Yes I game. I'm raising the next generation of gamers.

First Post

Hi, I'm Dricka! I wanted something to do to keep my hands busy and I thought a blog would be a good start at that. Welcome to my life...

I'm a wife to Ian. We have been married for 15 years. Crazy to think that it has that long already. We have 5 wonderful, intelligent and beautiful daughters. Having 3 teenagers in the house is wild. They are either each other's best friend or fighting and screaming at each other. They have also reached the age of lets only come out of our rooms if we are hungry or need money. There are attitudes around every corner. I sometimes have to check myself for attitude before talking to them so that they can't accuse me of being the one with the attitude. The "babies" on the other hand are super loving, still wants hugs and kisses from Mama, and still needs me to tuck them in at night. I know my days are numbered for that so I'm taking it all in and enjoying those moments. Being these 5 girls'  Mama is the best thing that ever happened to me and I wouldn't change it.

I wanted to write some big introduction post for my first post. After writing up everything I wanted in this first post, I realized that I wouldn't have any other get to know me content for future posts. I'm going to leave it at meeting me and the family for now. I look forward to showing you my world.
